Meet your guide

DR. KATHERINE LAWSON

I have been fascinated by the power of dreams for most of my life. I believe that our dream life is one of the most undervalued resources of our time. I’m passionate about introducing others to the incredible potential for soulful growth, healing, and creativity that can be accessed through our dreams.

I obtained my MA degree in Counseling Psychotherapy from the Pacifica Graduate Institute and published a thesis on healing trauma through the use of dreamwork. I also obtained a doctorate from Saybrook University in Mind-Body Medicine with a focus in Integrative Mental Health. I am a certified Embodied Imagination ® practitioner, a teacher, a therapist, and an international speaker.

I have spent nearly two decades examining the intersections between healing, dreaming, mysticism, and psychedelics. I am fascinated by the interactions between the brain, mind, body and personality, as well as the powerful ways in which societal and spiritual factors affect health and happiness.

I have recently published Dreamwork for Growth and Healing: A Guided Dream Journal, and have developed a training program for practitioners who want to offer psychedelic integration.

FAQ

  • I’m interested, but I don’t always remember my dreams. Is this work still right for me?

Because this journey takes place over a period of 6-weeks it may not be long enough to teach you to jumpstart your ability to recall your dreams and get the desired answers if you NEVER recall your dreams. However, if you even occasionally remember your dreams we can definitely get you into a deeper relationship with your dreams and this work will be rewarding for you. At the beginning we will seed the intentional dreaming process with embodiments from memory images so you don’t need to come with a dream.

If this work calls to you, but you still have questions, reach out and we can discuss it during a compatibility call. Dream Incubation works for most people. We are ALL dreaming every night.

  • Why are dreams a helpful place to look for answers? How can they help me?

Theories on dreams and their meanings have been recorded throughout time by Romans, Egyptians, Hebrew, Chinese, and many others. The ancients believed that the dream was a gift from the gods to direct humans in their lives; they considered dreams to be the medicine of the soul. People used dream incubation (engaging the dreamer in an active role in communication with the unconscious with the help of a guide or priest)  intentionally for healing and guidance on specific issues.

Dream imagery can put us in touch with resources that we aren’t aware of in waking consciousness, including hope beyond hope, purpose and strength, childish delight and creativity, and loving support in symbolic guises. Dreams can give us new perspectives and add meaning to life. Dreamwork requires attending to what happens along the borders, and in the soulful margins of thought between conscious and unconscious thinking. This allows us to develop and rely on our own sense of intuition and discover resources that may not be readily accessible in waking consciousness.

  • Are there any questions that can’t be answered by dreamwork?

I imagine there are some questions that cannot be answered by dreamwork, although I haven’t seen it in my own work. There are certainly questions that can’t be answered fully in a 6-week period. Both Einstein and Tesla made discoveries that changed the world while dreaming but the integration of those discoveries may have taken months or even years. What is important to note here is that the answers you get from this experience may not be exactly the answers you had hoped for but you will get answers. Often you get much more than you expected. I think of this work as getting in touch with your own soul. When I guide people to re-enter the dream realm in a dual state of consciousness and to become embodied by dream imagery, I do not know what the images will hold. What I know is that the images hold perspectives and states that are of value to the dreamer.

  • Will any sessions be recorded?

Because of the intimate and personal nature of this work I will only make recordings upon request. If you would like me to record your 1:1 sessions for your personal review, I am happy to do so.
